Esme’s Adventure – a concert in memory of Esme Macintrye, held on 16 February 2014, was a huge success and a wonderful tribute to Esme. Tickets sold out and over £3,600 was raised for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
The concert was packed full of wonderful music and new compositions inspired by Esme including:
Sunflower by Fiona Rutherford
Esme’s Flying by Patsy Seddon and Mary Macmaster
Esme’s Adventure by Jennifer Port
Esme’s Tune by Mairi Robertson
The Girl with the Purple Harp by Karen Marshalsay
One by Gwen Yorke
Esme’s Dream by Debbie Nash
Esme’s Bicycle Ride by Isobel Mieras and Na Clarsairean
The programme also included a moving interpretation of ‘Toker’ by Amy Moar – a tune she learned with Esme and some beautiful songs and guitar playing from Amy Duncan accompanied by Fiona Rutherford.
The Rev Dr Angus Morrison gave the most beautiful reading in Gaelic of the Sorley Maclean poem ‘Camhanaich’ which he read at Esme’s funeral service.
There are plans to compile a CD of songs performed at Esme’s Adventure Harp Concert. Watch this space!
